Outdoor Burning Requires a Permit
Outdoor burning is regulated by state law and town ordinance. Any outdoor burning in the Town of West Rutland must be approved by the Town Fire Warden and a burn permit must be issued. Obtaining a burn permit will ensure that you are burning in a safe manner that will not threaten property or the environment and it may also prevent unnecessary fire department responses. Contact the Fire Warden prior to any outdoor burning other than cooking fires. Violating the outdoor burning regulations may result in the issuance of a citation.
Key Box Program
A key box is a small secure vault that can only be opened by the fire department. It contains keys and information necessary to allow the fire department to quickly access a locked property.
